Patterns and replicas

🧪 Experimental feature

Support for patterns is experimental. Some features will not work as expected, although it could still be useful if you are creating pattern-based compositions.

Patterns are reusable groups of elements. It can contain any types of elements, which means you can create melody patterns as well as patterns for keyframes, text boxes and so on.

You can find the Patterns panel where all the patterns in the composition is listed.

To create reusable patterns, select some content on the canvas, and press ⌘P. You can also right click on the selection to see a context menu, from where you can find some other available options.

After creating a pattern, you can select it, and press ⌘D to duplicate it as a replica. You can make extensive changes to the replicas and move them around, but unchanged values in the replica will remain tied to their original master pattern. Try making some changes to the original pattern to see how the changes affect its replicas.

If you decide to delete a source pattern, all the replicas referencing it will be converted into regular groups and lose their links to the pattern.
